ITSAM
ITSAM in Sweden is an public sector organisation formed to provide IT support and services to educational establishments across 6 different municipalities. One of the main challenges they faced was having the ability to operate in such a large region. If a computer went down, they would send an engineer out to fix it, this proved to be very inefficient and costly. With unique desktops you get unique problems, so ITSAM implemented VMware View so that they could easily replicate desktops to hundreds of students. This has enabled their end users to access their desktops from any location at anytime. It has also enabled teachers to easily provide additional applications to support students that need extra tuition enabling the students to work on these from home. ITSAM have recently started a proof of concept with Horizon, to enable them to manage their applications more efficiently.
