Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi
Enhancing patient experience through technology
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi went into construction in March 2010 and is scheduled for completion in 2015. The hospital’s management wanted to provide a best-in-class digital environment for all patients in order to give them the best experience possible and to ensure their stay is a comfortable as possible from every aspect.
The IT team naturally has to play a key part in this vision and, as a result, deployed vCloud Automation Center for improved managed and oversight of its infrastructure. Thanks to VMware, the time it takes to deliver applications to the hospital will be reduced from two weeks to 15 minutes – or by 70% - due to the automation capabilities of VMware’s solution.
“The key to our IT strategy when we began our journey here was starting with private cloud and growing to a hybrid cloud or a software-defined datacentre. I think that the real drivers for that were increased agility and achieving better time to market for our customers, whether that’s physicians who may need data for research, of the ability for us to rapidly upgrade and enhance products, enabling new services.”
Department of Transport - Abu Dhabi
The Department of Transport (DoT) plans, develops and regulates an efficient and well-integrated transport system that contributes to the economic growth, quality of life and environmental sustainability of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. DoT serves the public interest by enhancing mobility and delivering safe, secure and environmentally responsible Aviation, Maritime, Public Transport and Highways sectors.
“VMware’s leadership, dedication, and sophisticated products helped the Department of Transport to virtualize its highly critical applications, thus enabling us to respond to our customers faster, power our Internal Corporate Services and Public transportation applications, and improve our services to the public in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi that encourages the use of public transportation.”
Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC)
Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) was one of the few companies in the region to deploy the comprehensive stack of Oracle E-business solutions with mission critical applications such as CRM, Business Intelligence and Oracle databases. This complex solution required stacks of hardware from several vendors, a lot of space, and expensive licenses. Today, with a custom designed VMware virtualization solution, ADPC has consolidated its IT infrastructure resulting in increased performance, savings on hardware maintenance and running costs, and enhanced scalability for further expansion.
“VMware’s dedication, support and expertise enabled Abu Dhabi Ports Company to execute one of the biggest virtualization projects in the region, Oracle E-business suite. The project resulted in a savings of US $ 1.2 million on hardware, power and licensing. We are now 100 percent virtualized and are able to serve our customers in minutes rather than weeks.”
Mashreq has one of the region’s largest investments in virtualization, with the strategy that the overwhelming majority of its servers will be virtualized.
“Our return-on-investment calculations gave us a compelling reason to deploy VMware and reduce the proliferation of hardware in our data center while securing all of the performance and cost-saving benefits of virtualization, including maximizing system availability for Mashreq’s customers. We believe that VMware is the de facto standard for virtualization – VMware delivered and we’re very pleased with the results.”
