Germany’s ADAC e.V. is Europe’s largest automobile association with more than 18 million members using the company’s various services from roadside assistance to automobile insurance. ADAC decided to move several smaller offices into one main office location in Munich. This enabled them to introduce a new way for their employees to work. Employees now have the option to sit at any desk in any part of the building and can easily access their desktop wherever they are. VMware Mirage was selected as it was the only product with the ability to migrate all of the companies applications, application data, user data and operating system.

ADP Dealer Services needed a highly productive development environment that could spawn creativity amongst its two thousand software engineers, hardware engineers, and developers while providing a secure internal infrastructure. Using VMware server and desktop virtualization solutions, the company built a research and development environment using network segmentation, VMware vCenter: Lab Manager, and VMware View.
The company sought an end-user computing (EUC) solution from VMware to enable quick provisioning and de-provisioning of development environments. The ADP Dealer Services team chose VMware View for global deployment. With the View client, the developers access their remote workstations, either locally or remotely. The remote View workstation securely interacts with any ADP application from anywhere. The company has realized two great benefits – the ability for each administrator to manage 300-400 workstations, and the ability of the team to create and deploy workstations exceedingly fast, up to 50 or 60 a day.
