Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) is a Third level college based in the south of Ireland in Cork. The challenges they were looking to address in CIT was in relation to the online delivery of cloud computing courses. VMware View allowed them to deploy virtual desktops to the students and also they choose vCloud Director Product to deploy labs to students as well. Since these students use their own vAPP; with vCloud director, the vAPPs are segregated and they are isolated from other vAPPS so they can manipulate these tools, test these tools and not affect the network surrounding.
"We have been forging industry links with VMware and we had worked quite closely with VMware in developing cloud computing academic programmes and it was through these links and through the positive experience we had with VMware products previously that we decided to choose VMware View as the desktop deployment solution and vCloud Director."
— Irene Griffin, Cloud Computing Officer, Cork Institute of Technology

Discover why Columbia Sportwear chose vCloud Hybrid Service and how they plan to deliver value back to the business.
"Columbia Sportswear has multiple use cases for vCloud Hybrid Service. Not only between private cloud to public cloud but we also have about 46 remote branch offices and today we don’t have a business continuity or disaster recovery plan for those offices. So as the vCloud Hybrid Service expands what we’re really looking for is DR-as-a-service and that backup plan for those smaller locations around the world."
