Financial Services Provider Target a Secure, PCI DSS-Compliant, Virtualized Environment for Online Services

“Our goal was to come up with a scalable foundation that was compliant with the standards required in the insurance and finance industries... The answer was a VMware cluster of servers hosted by a local datacenter service provider and protected with Trend Micro security.”

— Jeff Jackson, Co-Founder & CEO (Omni Technology Partner)

Hungarian National Bank (Magyar Nemzeti Bank)

Az MNB szervervirtualizációs projektje a VMware ESX Server 3.5-ös verziójával indult, de a platform legújabb, 4.0-s verzióra történő frissítése a HP-val kötött support szerződésnek is része. A virtualizált szerverek felügyeletére a jegybank a VMware vCenter megoldását vezette be. Az MNB a hardvererőforrások átlagosan 70 százalékos kihasználását tűzte ki célul, ami a projekt eredményeként a gyakorlatban megvalósult. A jegybank a VMware virtualizációs megoldásával ötödére csökkentette a szervergépek számát, amivel arányosan csökkent a kiszolgálók hely- és a hűtésigénye is.

“Due to the extra importance of the national bank’s role, a virtualisation solution already well-proven in the market and providing high standards of support and having adequate references in Hungary could be considered only. VMware’s virtualisation technology met these strict requirements.”

— Gyula Pap, IT Director, Hungarian National Bank

Implementing VMware has also provided us with a robust foundation to move to a private cloud and adopt more efficient ways of delivering IT services to the business.”

— Gunawan Santoso, VP of IT Implementation

Nordea Bank Polska SA

Platforma VMware vSphere 4 umożliwiła stworzenie stabilnego środowiska wirtualnego, jednocześnie przyczyniając się do odzyskania wolnego miejsca w serwerowni i ograniczenia poboru energii. Dla działu IT bardzo istotną kwestią była też wygoda tworzenia środowisk testowych i możliwość prowadzenia tzw. testów pre-live. Dzięki wirtualizacji serwerów zwiększyła się elastyczność zarządzania zasobami i uprościło zarządzanie całym środowiskiem IT. Pozytywne doświadczenia z VMware vShpere 4 skłoniły dział IT w banku Nordea do wdrożenia rozwiązania VMware View 4 służącego do wirtualizacji desktopów. Środowisko to zostało uruchomione produkcyjnie we wrześniu 2010 r.

“Wdrożenie wirtualizacji przyniosło wymierne korzyści w zakresie zarządzania, m.in. zespół odpowiedzialny wcześniej za zarządzanie sprzętem mógł zająć się innymi projektami. Co więcej, jedna konsola VMware vCenter umożliwia nam zarządzanie platformą vSphere oraz nowym środowiskiem VMware View. To daje nam możliwość rozbudowany naszej infrastruktury bez powiększania działu IT.”

— Brygida Kazimierska, Head of IT Service Delivery
