Mentor Graphics

Mentor Graphics has been using VMware for past 7-8 years in their software development environment. Paddy Ryan of Mentor Graphics shares his experience working with VMware products where their software development environments are changeable depending on their development cycle. VMware gives him that flexibility because they can deploy machines instantly and only use them for number of weeks and then those resources that are consumed by those virtual machines are returned to the pool and reallocated to other product development groups.

“From my perspective the best thing about VMware product is the speed at which it allows us to deploy virtual machines. We can configure one virtual machine set it up exactly how we want it, create a template out of it and then deploy 20 30 40 machines based on that template in a number of minutes. We find VMware and our engagements with VMware excellent, products are really good and the support people’s understandings of those products are really good.”

— Paddy Ryan, EMEA Regional Datacentre Operations Team Lead, Mentor Graphics
