Hungarian National Bank (Magyar Nemzeti Bank)

Az MNB szervervirtualizációs projektje a VMware ESX Server 3.5-ös verziójával indult, de a platform legújabb, 4.0-s verzióra történő frissítése a HP-val kötött support szerződésnek is része. A virtualizált szerverek felügyeletére a jegybank a VMware vCenter megoldását vezette be. Az MNB a hardvererőforrások átlagosan 70 százalékos kihasználását tűzte ki célul, ami a projekt eredményeként a gyakorlatban megvalósult. A jegybank a VMware virtualizációs megoldásával ötödére csökkentette a szervergépek számát, amivel arányosan csökkent a kiszolgálók hely- és a hűtésigénye is.

“Due to the extra importance of the national bank’s role, a virtualisation solution already well-proven in the market and providing high standards of support and having adequate references in Hungary could be considered only. VMware’s virtualisation technology met these strict requirements.”

— Gyula Pap, IT Director, Hungarian National Bank

ITSAM

ITSAM in Sweden is an public sector organisation formed to provide IT support and services to educational establishments across 6 different municipalities. One of the main challenges they faced was having the ability to operate in such a large region. If a computer went down, they would send an engineer out to fix it, this proved to be very inefficient and costly. With unique desktops you get unique problems, so ITSAM implemented VMware View so that they could easily replicate desktops to hundreds of students. This has enabled their end users to access their desktops from any location at anytime. It has also enabled teachers to easily provide additional applications to support students that need extra tuition enabling the students to work on these from home. ITSAM have recently started a proof of concept with Horizon, to enable them to manage their applications more efficiently.

“The benefit to the end users is that they can access their own desktop from any client around the world, it does n’t matter where they are. Also the school can make sure they provide the correct applications to the right students at all times.”

— Thomas Sjoholm, IT Professional, ITSAM

Jenner & Block

Use VMware Infrastructure To Dramatically Consolidate Hosts While Beefing Up The Performance And Reliability Of Applications Like SQL Server

“This is a law firm, so most people here aren’t concerned about how our IT infrastructure’s set up. What they care about is, ‘Is it up?’ and ‘Is it fast?’ Since we’ve been running our key applications on VMware Infrastructure, the answer to those questions has basically been ‘yes,’ which makes our users—and us—very happy.”
