VMware offers the most mature, easy-to-use and feature packed on the market and the best fit for our needs

“We did not really consider anyone else other than VMware. The benefits of a single, integrated virtualization platform from the datacenter to the desktop were compelling.”

— George Wraith, Head of Systems

Newcastle College Group

“VMware View has transformed our IT infrastructure and given us the control and centralized management capabilities we needed following a number of mergers and acquisitions. We now have a reliable, secure and resilient IT infrastructure in place which provides our end users with the flexibility they need to work wherever they work best. What could have been a time intensive, expensive, IT integration project has proved quick, pain free and, most importantly of all, has proved great value for money. Not only does our IT team now have a lot more time to concentrate on strategic projects to help drive the business forward, rather than worrying about maintenance issues, but we’ve actually saved ourselves over £7 million which is quite staggering.”

— Neil Gow, Group IT Development Manager

Nordea Bank Polska SA

Platforma VMware vSphere 4 umożliwiła stworzenie stabilnego środowiska wirtualnego, jednocześnie przyczyniając się do odzyskania wolnego miejsca w serwerowni i ograniczenia poboru energii. Dla działu IT bardzo istotną kwestią była też wygoda tworzenia środowisk testowych i możliwość prowadzenia tzw. testów pre-live. Dzięki wirtualizacji serwerów zwiększyła się elastyczność zarządzania zasobami i uprościło zarządzanie całym środowiskiem IT. Pozytywne doświadczenia z VMware vShpere 4 skłoniły dział IT w banku Nordea do wdrożenia rozwiązania VMware View 4 służącego do wirtualizacji desktopów. Środowisko to zostało uruchomione produkcyjnie we wrześniu 2010 r.

“Wdrożenie wirtualizacji przyniosło wymierne korzyści w zakresie zarządzania, m.in. zespół odpowiedzialny wcześniej za zarządzanie sprzętem mógł zająć się innymi projektami. Co więcej, jedna konsola VMware vCenter umożliwia nam zarządzanie platformą vSphere oraz nowym środowiskiem VMware View. To daje nam możliwość rozbudowany naszej infrastruktury bez powiększania działu IT.”

— Brygida Kazimierska, Head of IT Service Delivery

North Carolina State University

There is no substitute for experience when it comes to operating powerful machines. As part of Naval ROTC training at NC State University, midshipmen learn how to drive any vessel in the U.S. Navy fleet. NC State University Libraries deployed VMware Horizon View to securely deliver a virtual environment with the 3D graphics required for ROTC training. Authorized users can securely access the entire simulated training environment in software from a multipurpose creativity studio. Yet 3D virtualization isn’t just for training, NC State University students, faculty, and staff in other disciplines can also use virtual desktops to access critical 3D design software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.

“Naval ROTC is using Hunt Library resources for a simulation program that gives us the flexibility to build different scenarios, different classes of ships, train the students, and then tear that training down in an instant and move the resources over to something else. That flexibility is exactly what universities need in the future.”

— Dr. Marc Hoit, Vice Chancellor for IT and CIO, NC State University

North Carolina State University

Everywhere you look on today’s university campuses, you see devices—from laptops to smartphones to tablets. NC State University is no exception. It set the model for how to successfully embrace leading-edge technology and the bring your own device (BYOD) trend with the opening of the James B. Hunt Jr. Library in April 2013. In support of NC State University’s blended learning vision, VMware Horizon View enables anytime, anywhere, any-device access to applications and data, including demanding 3D graphics applications. Desktop services are available anywhere they are needed—on or off the campus—fully supporting a distributed computing environment and student, faculty, and staff device preferences.

“The Hunt Library is the visible lighthouse that says this is a technology leader and it’s everything from the high resolution rooms where you can do innovation to the virtualized desktops that allow students, faculty, and staff to use their services anywhere, anytime they need them.”

— Dr. Marc Hoit, Vice Chancellor for IT and CIO, NC State University

NTT Neomeit

NTT Neomeit deploys, maintains and manages IT infrastructure for customers throughout the West Japan region. Desktop virtualization is a key part of its roadmap for improving security and management efficiency. However, the virtualization solution that the company initially selected failed to deliver the expected performance and stability, and was therefore jettisoned in favor of VMware Horizon View. The combination of VMware’s proven technology and comprehensive support has resulted in huge performance and stability gains, and significant reductions in operating costs

“With the support of VMware, we completely re-engineered our virtual desktop infrastructure. This delivered major improvements in performance and stability, resulting in a stress-free working experience for our users.”

— Katsuya Yoneda, Head of Virtualization Technology Centre

Oxford Archeology

With VMware Zimbra, Oxford Archaeology is able to deliver email to the entire organization while reducing the cost per user by 50%. Furthermore, employees now have improved remote access due to the organization's decision to embrace Zimbra’s web-based client in place of existing desktop email clients. A collaborative culture is slowly but steadily emerging as people recognize the benefits of improved communication and knowledge sharing.

"The price of a solution is not just about what it costs to implement it today or support it going forward, but about how it impacts other choices you might want to make in future. By prioritizing openness and multi-platform support, you will maximize your options both in terms of supporting users today, as well as investing in technologies going forward."

— Chris Puttick, Chief Information Officer
