Linxdatacenter is constantly evolving in response to the growing needs of clients. Linxdatacenter decided to extend the portfolio of services provided to clients and to introduce Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) based on the FlexPod platform. The current and prospective clients, who are using typical ICT and collocation services, gained an opportunity to rent comprehensive virtual environments – a virtual data center. In practice this means that, with access to processing capacity, RAM and significant disk space, they are able to create and manage virtual servers on their own. The entire hardware solution is managed by VMware vCloud Suite 5.1 products.
“Clients want to make sure that their data is secure and they want to know where exactly the data is stored. LinxCloud meets both of these requirements. Our service, also called “the private cloud”, enables our clients to process and store data on a secure platform and at the same time reduce the costs of hardware and software administration and maintenance. Also, the cloud allows for flexible and immediate adjustment of the hardware platform performance to meet the current needs of the company. The same rule applies to software, which does not need to be bought. You can pay for its use in the same way you pay for electricity consumption. Such an option is much more affordable compared to the traditional licensing model”.

Lufthansa systems provide IT for the airline & aviation industry, based in Frankfurt, they employ over 3,000 people based in 14 countries. They needed to develop a system to distribute mapping data to pilots across the globe. Flight charts are only current for 4 weeks and pilots are only given 10 days to download updates. It needed to be scalable to cope with huge peaks in demand of up to 800MB of data being downloaded by over 7,000 pilots at the same time. A VMware Hybrid Cloud solution enables them to utilise a public cloud solution with their existing private cloud, increasing scalability & agility while ensuring data security. It was the only solution to provide the capacity to handle peaks in traffic avoiding latency issues
"VMware enables us to use the capabilities and scalabilities of a Public Cloud Provider and at the same time ensuring data security and integrity.”

Mentor Graphics has been using VMware for past 7-8 years in their software development environment. Paddy Ryan of Mentor Graphics shares his experience working with VMware products where their software development environments are changeable depending on their development cycle. VMware gives him that flexibility because they can deploy machines instantly and only use them for number of weeks and then those resources that are consumed by those virtual machines are returned to the pool and reallocated to other product development groups.
“From my perspective the best thing about VMware product is the speed at which it allows us to deploy virtual machines. We can configure one virtual machine set it up exactly how we want it, create a template out of it and then deploy 20 30 40 machines based on that template in a number of minutes. We find VMware and our engagements with VMware excellent, products are really good and the support people’s understandings of those products are really good.”
