VMware Fellow

Ole Agesen joined VMware in 1999, bringing his passion for continued innovation and quality products to the company. Agesen was appointed as a VMware Fellow in 2012 for his outstanding technical contributions to the company and industry. During his 12-year tenure as a principal engineer, Agesen led several industry firsts for VMware, including the first enterprise-class x86 virtual machine monitor (VMM) and support for virtual SMP. He has earned 52 issued patents, 25 of which are assigned to VMware and made major contributions to VMware vSphere.

Prior to VMware, Agesen worked for Sun Microsystems as a technical lead for the company’s first server-class Java Virtual Machine, ExactVM. He holds a master’s degree in computer science from Aarhus University in Denmark and a Ph.D. in computer science from Stanford University.
