MediaWiki and refbase on Ubuntu Server 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron)

wiki and web-based reference management software

Description

MediaWiki is a Web-based collaborative editing environment. Originally built for the online encyclopedia project Wikipedia, it's geared to support a large number of users and pages.

refbase is a Web-based bibliographic manager that can import and export references in various formats (including BibTeX, Endnote, MODS XML, and OpenOffice). It can make formatted lists of citations in HTML, RTF, PDF, or LaTeX, and offers powerful searching, rich metadata, and RSS support.

The appliance features both of these webapps on Ubuntu Linux. It is based on Chrysaor's appliance from http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/1226

There is no root password set. To use the root account, use user/pass=user/user & then run 'sudo -s' with the password 'user' to obtain a root shell.
