Fedora Core 5 with a Nessus Port Scanner software

This setup will set on any network and scan either a network or a single server

Description

1. This appliance was built so that anyone can scan their network without needing to know how to build Fedora, Nessus, and such. In addition, it is small enough to move around on a removal device in between usage. Because its configuratoin, you will not need to set up network (because it has been DHCP enabled), build the OS (which can take up to 1 hour), and/or install Nessus (which can take up to 1 hour).

2. I have tried to build the leanest Fedora Core 5 machine. After that, I had to install gcc, bison, yacc, and other apps that was needed by the Nessus installer. Lastly, I had to install httpd so that I can make the basic instruction available along with the "Windows Remote Console".

3. After the appliance has started, you will have to open up a web browser pointing to the appliance. There you will be able to download the "Windows Remote Console" in order to use the Nessus app on the appliance.
The account is "root" and the password is "nessus".

4. The Fedora Core 5 os is GPL. The Nessus application is also GPL.
