Description:
1. This goal of this project is to have a portable search engine for the purpose of indexing a single website. Rather than going through the website looking for want you want to see, you can run a search from this VM to find exactly where certain instances are that you are looking for.
2. This VM was built using vmware workstation with a standard install of Fedora Core 5. I had to perform a couple of yum install in order to have http, htdig, and htdig-web available. Among the many trial and errors, I had to pull down other rpms in an attempt to add external parsers.
3. Once you start up the VM, you will need to log in as root and get the ip address of the VM (dhcp enabled). You will then need to edit the /etc/htdig/htdig.conf file and place the website you want to index. Next, you will need to run "rundig -v" to do the actual indexing. Lastly, open up a web browser to the IP and type in a word to search.
4. Fedora Core 5, Apache, and Htdig all are bundled in the Fedora Core 5 release which are all GPL.
