JBoss appliance, based on FC5 with http installation and managment tools

Description

Installing a J2EE AS is not an easy issue for system administrator. With this appliance using the provided configuration tools in few minutes the operator are going to have an installed and configured JBoss AS. Creating this appliance we have found a good balance among usability, security and flexibility.

The features list of the product follows:
Web based JBoss installation
Web based JBoss administration
Web based File Manager
JBoss footprint finetuning
JNDI constraint validation
Apache Mod Proxy enabled
Easy appliance configuration via sysconfig
Pre installed security hardening with bastile
Pre installed Midnight Commander
Runs on any vmware enabled enviroment

In details the installation and administration tools permits to remotely manage:
DataSources: MySQL, Postgrel, Hypersonic, Oracle
JMS destinations
Java Mail
Log4J Categories
Apache Mod Proxy
Account admin
Remote administration and viewing of any jboss configuration file via the File Manager
Remote viewing of the Linux log folder

In details sysconfig provides access to the following administration tools:
Host name
Keyboard configuration
Network configuration
Firewall configuration
Timezone configuration
System services configuration
System password

To assemble this appliance the following activities has been done:
-a web application called setup has been developed using struts that follows the user in the customization of JBoss
-a web application called console has been developed always with struts that permits the user to manage remotely the AS
-a bash script called sysconfig has been writen to make it easy to the user the installation, configuration and maintainance of the appliance.

To start using the appliance simply load it and follow the instuctions. Inside the zip you can find the user guide that's allo avaible from the project web site http://j2easy.sourceforge.net/
