With the PortaMail Appliance you can maintain a single environment for e-Mail handling using Evolution Mail. Take it with you on a DVD-RW, USB Hard Drive, or transfer it over a VPN connection to other locations. Not only just one environment to maintain, but a security bonus as well: others can't access your mail if you take it with you. The isolation of the appliance from your host also means that any "nastiness" sent through e-Mail will never hurt your other applications. The PortaMail Virtual Appliance is built on a minimal install of Ubuntu Linux 5.10. Most of the "bulk" such as C compliers, graphics apps. etc., have been removed to reduce the appliance size. VMware Tools "Shrink" function has been applied to further reduce the size. First, install VMware Player, and select PortaMail.vmx when prompted. On first boot, you will see an Evolution Mail welcome screen. Follow the setup steps as prompted, and that's it...e-Mail away!
