Description:
iSCSI Virtual SAN
This is the iSCSI Virtual SAN appliance. This appliance will allow you to share files between several hosts. This appliance would be highly useful in a network situation were high availability would be needed. By sharing partitions between several computers, you will be able to implement a cluster solution or a redundancy configuration with ESX server for example.
This appliance was built by doing a basic installation of Fedora Core 5. After that, I installed the needed packages (kernel sources, gcc, etc) to build the iSCSI Target from sources. Finally, I configured the iSCSI Target.
To use this appliance, you will need a iSCSI Initiator.
For the Windows Environments, I recommend using the Microsoft Implementation of an iSCSI Initiator available there : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=12cb3c1a-15d6-4...
For the Linux Environments, I recommend using the iscsi-initiator-utils
package.
More information concerning the iSCSI Target can be found on the following web site : http://iscsitarget.sourceforge.net/
The iSCSI Enterprise Target is licensed under the GPL.
