FreeNATS is an open-source GPL licenced network monitoring, alerting and reporting system. This appliance contains the stable beta of the new (1.x) version of FreeNATS pre-installed.

Agentless (server-side) test types supported are:

- Web Time and Size
- SMTP
- IMAP and POP3
- ICMP (Ping)
- MySQL Timing and Rows
- TCP/UDP Port Open
- SMB/CIFS Share
- Simple and Complex DNS

Nodeside agents are available for Win32 and *ix environments to gather further information on disk space, load, memory etc.

Alerts can be made to either generate email (including short email-to-SMS compatible messages) or request a URL with the alert message encoded.

Other features include:

- Test Scheduling (don't test during reboot windows)
- Graphical Summary
- Live Monitor
- Custom Views (Publishable to third-party websites)
- Service Availability Reporting
- Data API (JavaScript or XML)
- Command-line discovery and bulk import tools

FreeNATS is available as PHP source (for *nix MySQL environments) or a pre-packaged virtual appliance.
