Description

The Kiosk Appliance allows users to build browser-based information display kiosk which are useful and often seen in Internet cafes, libraries, galleries and museums, educational institutions, municipal offices, visitor information booths, conferences, shopping malls, airports---in short any location where simple, easy access to information is desirable. Included is just enough rPath Linux and FVWM to run a locked down version of Firefox. Firefox is also pre-configured to automatically reset after each used so that personal information is never stored permanently.

Features:

0) Disable main menubar and right click context menu;
1) Clear all personal data on exit;
2) Reset after a period of inactivity;
3) Disable form history;
4) Disable caching;
5) Disable password saving;
6) Disallow all access to external protocols, such as mailto: and telnet:;
7) Disallow changing bookmarks (reset to normal bookmarks when the user leaves);
8) Disallow changing prefs;
9) Disallow web pages from opening new windows, even in response to user clicks; 10) Disallow installing new extension/theme/plugin;
11) Disable common OS shortcuts such as Ctrl + Alt + Del;
