Description
v1.235
- fixed the vmware-guestd 100% usage
- fixed DNS forwarder override domain feature
- fixed a long standing bug with regenerating firewall rules (including automatically generated ones) that reference the WAN interface when the WAN IP address changes
- added a map rule for port 53 to avoid problems with clashes between inbound NAT rules and Dnsmasq random port selection
v1.234:
- added source port randomization for ipnat
- updated Dnsmasq to 2.45 (source port randomization)
- updated PHP to 4.4.9
- bumped MFS size for firmware upgrades to 10 MB
- changed ZoneEdit update server name to dynamic.zoneedit.com
v1.233:
- fixed PPP secondary DNS reject issue with AT&T/Bellsouth
- updated PHP to 4.4.8
v1.232-2: Due to incompatibility with the compressor used in the previous version, this file has been repacked with a more generally used compressor. It's contents are the same as the 1.232-1 version.
v1.232-1: This small update finally has the VMware guest scripts to decently shut it down!
Features & Benefits
m0n0wall is a project aimed at creating a complete, embedded firewall software package that, when used together with an embedded PC, provides all the important features of commercial firewall boxes (including ease of use) at a fraction of the price (free software).
m0n0wall is based on a bare-bones version of FreeBSD, along with a web server, PHP and a few other utilities. The entire system configuration is stored in one single XML text file to keep things transparent.
m0n0wall is probably the first UNIX system that has its boot-time configuration done with PHP, rather than the usual shell scripts, and that has the entire system configuration stored in XML format.
This specific VMware appliance version has the VMXnet driver installed and is preconfigured to run on a server with two NICs, offering complete firewall protection to the inner lan. Additionally, it offers a DMZ zone for virtual web- or other servers. Optionally, this DMZ zone can be connected to a physical NIC to allow physical DMZ connections too.
Since there's been an update of the original monowall, x-mono has been updated too.
