Description

Alinex is a Gnu/Linux operating system that targets portuguese speaking users (Portugal, Angola, Cape Verde, East Timor, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tome and Principe). It has an easy and intuitive step-by-step installation process and comes with a set of application software for both individual and professional use (Office, Internet tools, multimedia, graphics, etc). It can be installed on desktops, laptops, servers, PDA's, among others.

Alinex is, at the moment, an extremely active project. The largest portuguese portable/desktop/server producer (Solbi/Citydesk) will soon offer in the market its machines with Alinex as the original operating system. Following a protocol with the Ministry of Education, Alinex is installed in all high school computers in the country, dual booted with Windows.

Alinex was developed at the University of Évora, and was born from a
partnership with the Spanish Junta de Extremadura, creators of GNU/LinEX.
