Overview:The Intrepid VM is a VMware-hosted version of the Linux change management, disaster recovery, and provisioning software distributed in the Intrepid M Linux Management Appliance. The Intrepid VM can be used to manage and control up to three running Linux servers at any time.It is primarily for use in smaller Linux environments, or those who wish to evaluate the feature set of the Levanta Intrepid M or X physical appliances. Other than the license limitation, and the caveats noted below, it is functionally equivalent to the Levanta physical appliances.Intrepid VM System Requirements:The Intrepid VM must be run from a VMware® product such as VMware PlayerTM, VMware WorkstationTM, or VMware ServerTM. VMware Fusion and ESX Server may work but have not been tested at this time.The host system should have at least the following minimum specifications:--2.4 GHz P4 or equivalent--2 GB of RAM--6 GB of free disk spaceThe recommended hardware specification is:--3 GHz P4 equivalent or better--2 GB of RAM or more--12 GB of free disk space or moreLimitations:The Intrepid VM is a fully-featured version of the Intrepid M software with some differences and limitations that apply to the Intrepid VM that are not present in the Intrepid M: 1. Performance is significantly lower under VMware as compared to the physical appliance.2. The Intrepid VM includes only a barebones selection of software packages and a single sample template.3. The Intrepid VM is limited to 24Gb of user data.4. The Intrepid VM will allow only three running managed servers.5. The appliance hardware health monitoring does not function under VMware.
