PacketFence ZEN

Open-source network access control (NAC)

Description

PacketFence is an open-source package that provides network access control (NAC). Deployed in academic networks around the world, PacketFence is reliable, extremely configurable, and built upon unmodified open-source code (Fedora, LAMP, Perl, and Snort). PacketFence ZEN (Zero Effort NAC) is a pre-configured virtual appliance designed to make network registration a snap!

PF ZEN is ideal for those testing the NAC waters to get up and running with little effort. It works "out of the box" with no modules or RPMs to install. To use the VM, simply play it, login as root and run "cd /usr/local/pf && ./auto_ip.pl". PacketFence will be automatically configured with your LAN settings and will be ready to run. Then simply run "/etc/init.d/packetfence start" or reboot the VM to start registering users.
