About the Virtual Appliance
This is a turn-key virtual appliance for the amazing popular Exchange-replacement, Zimbra. The Virtual Appliance is configured according to Zimbra’s installation guide. Compatible with VMware Server 2.0 / ESX / Fusion.
About Zimbra
(From zimbra.com.) Zimbra is open source server software for email and collaboration - email, group calendar, contacts, instant messaging, file storage and web document management. The Zimbra email and calendar server is available for Linux, Mac OS X and virtualization platforms. Zimbra syncs to smartphones (iPhone, BlackBerry) and desktop clients like Outlook and Thunderbird. Zimbra also features archiving and discovery for compliance.
How To Use
While you’re able to use Zimbra right away with this Virtual Appliance, further configuration will be needed to use it to receive email. The Virtual Appliance is configured for the test domain ‘mydomain.com,’ which you will need to change. For more details about this, please see this page. You will need to make these changes using the VMware console or using SSH.
Once you’ve made these changes (or if you do not wish to receive emails), point your browser to https://192.168.10.55:7071 for the administration console and https://192.168.10.55 for the normal user interface.
Technical Details
This Virtual Appliance is based on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server with Zimbra 5.0.14 Open Source Edition installed. It uses 768MB of RAM and has a bridged network device with a static IP configured. For more details, see the README file in the package.
