Description

Enterprise Class Open Source
XWiki Enterprise is an open source professional wiki collaboration suite with enterprise features such as blog, strong rights management, LDAP authentication, PDF export, full skinning and more. It also includes an advanced form and scripting engine making it an excellent development environment for data-based applications. It has powerful extensibility features such as scripting in pages, plugins and a highly modular architecture.

The XWiki Enterprise Appliance is a VMware virtual appliance with XWiki Enterprise automatically installed and configured on an entirely open source stack. The included Apache Tomcat 6 java application server and MySQL 5 database are running on Ubuntu 8.10 JeOS.

Features & Benefits

Easy to Deploy
All that's required to deploy the appliance is to run it on a VMware host (Workstation, Player, Server) with an internet connection. Upon boot the appliance will download, install, and configure OpenJDK, Tomcat 6, and XWiki Enterprise. At first login the user will be prompted to change both the Ubuntu and MySQL root passwords.

The appliance could be left with the default DHCP settings for development and testing environments but it is suggested that network interface be configured with a static IP address.

The XWiki instance is empty by design. You may upload the default set of XWiki pages (or your own) as a Xar file via a browser. If you choose to load the default set the user name is "Admin" and the password is "admin".
