Kickass Backup Appliance

Cool idea: a backup appliance that runs IN virtualized environments, not just FOR virtualized environments. I was able to download, install and test this backup virtual appliance. It worked perfectly as advertised. I was able to import the appliance with the VMware ‘import appliance wizard’ in about 5 minutes. You need to allocate enough space for your backup data and then configure the Arkeia application. STRENGTHS: Deployment was a piece of cake. I was able to dynamically allocate resources and to increase the size of my disk based on how much data I have. You get all of the functionality of Veritas and Legato running in a virtual appliance, including the option to backup to tape. WEAKNESSES: To do anything of any real value, you need to purchase a license.
