aCelera Virtual Appliance for Application Acceleration

Partner
Description
Certeon’s aCelera is the first virtual appliance (VA) to run natively within a virtual machine operating system and provide true application acceleration across a WAN. aCelera software delivers a more than 95% reduction in application response time to remote branch office users, eliminating the hardware footprint and high cost of separately managed, single-purpose boxes. aCelera is supported on industry-standard server, workstation and laptop systems, and VMware ESX and ESXi hypervisors.
Provisioning aCelera as a VA within a virtual operating system allows other virtualized applications to benefit from aCelera’s performance enhancements. Along with aCelera ’s wide range of WAN optimization and acceleration techniques to speed all WAN traffic, aCelera specifically optimizes mission-critical applications through its embedded Application Acceleration Blueprints. Application Blueprints turbo-charge the acceleration of your most important applications. aCelera also supports the most concurrent accelerated network connections than any other WAN optimization solution in the market today. With aCelera running within a virtualized environment, remote users will see a dramatic improvement in application access and delivery performance and scalability, resulting in greater productivity.
aCelera also enables IT managers to, on demand, allocate application performance and system resources where they are needed most. aCelera appliances can be provisioned from VMware VirtualCenter — the same central systems that monitor and control the virtual operating system and virtualized applications. aCelera reduces the bandwidth utilization while speeding applications to remote workers. Also, the cost and performance benefits of aCelera application acceleration enable IT managers to deploy virtualized applications to remote branch offices faster and more easily, saving IT managers 60% in capital and operations costs.
aCelera speeds more applications to more users for less cost.
Features & Benefits
aCelera’s core features include the following:
• Support for industry standard systems (servers, desktops, and laptops), storage devices, and virtual machine operating systems such as VMware ESX and ESXi.
• Stream Based Differencing (SBD), Certeon’s patent-pending invention that enables continuous identification and analysis of larger “streams” (1024 bytes) of data in sequential order. In order to support virtualized environments, SBD efficiently utilizes system resources (CPU, RAM, and disk) to optimally support a large history database that can scale along with available system resources.
• Single Instance History Store provides a scalable resource to implement data differencing so that no unchanged data is sent over the network twice. The History Store also prevents multiple copies of the same historical data from having to be stored and maintained.
• Proxy and Connection Handling technologies Up to a maximum of 65,000 concurrent connections per single VM is supported.
• Application Acceleration Blueprints provide Layer 7 intelligence to identify and optimize protocols and application streams.
aCelera also supports multiple VMware features and benefits such as:
• Central management and provisioning via VMware VirtualCenter.
• aCelera performance scales along with the system resources that are currently supported by vSphere 4, including VirtualSMP, increased memory support, and DRS cluster limits.
• VMotion gives system managers the ability to move a running aCelera process from one virtual machine to another without restarting the system.
• Dynamic resource scheduling allows system managers to reduce or increase CPU allocation, clock cycles, and memory, as needed by aCelera , to meet overall system and performance requirements.
• VMware HA migrates aCelera to a designated backup system.
aCelera Virtual Appliance software delivers speed, scalability, and reduces the cost of accessing and delivering applications to remote users over a WAN.
