Seems to be a common problem...
(I neither evaluated / tested nor deployed this appliance)
... not to be able to log in, neither with password vadmin nor vmware nor vmplanet, so I cannot say anything about vmware player and ubuntu - besides: too sad it does not work. Or has anybody the right password and would tell me?

Hi, Somehow I got a different file as others have had the same problem the correct user and password for file Ubuntu9.04.7z is Login: vmplanet Pass: vmplanet.net Not sure how I got a different file but its not Ubuntu9.04Desktop.7z which is what the info here is for. Hope this helps. I have not evaluated either just got logged on.
What is the root password

Love it, BUT PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE ROOT PASSWORD IS!!!!
Wrong username & password, otherwise OK

The correct username is vadmin and the password is vadmin. Once you log in, create a new admin account for yourself, delete the vadmin account, and update the software on the system. If you don't know how to do that, get a book on Ubuntu or make a friend at the local Linux Users' Group (LUG) don't write a bogus one-star review demonstrating your lack of resourcefulness.
