VMware Studio 1.0 provides mechanisms for the creation, distribution, deployment and management of production-ready virtual appliances.
We are pleased to announce the public beta of VMware Studio 2.0. We have introduced the highly anticipated capability for IT Administrators, developers and ISVs to author, deploy and customize vApps in addition to virtual appliances. Learn more.
Author VMware Ready Virtual Appliances using VMware Studio 1.0
VMware Studio helps author appliances that can then be validated through VMware Ready Program. These Appliances run seamlessly on VMware products such as VMware Infrastructure, VMware ESXi, VMware Workstation, VMware Fusion and VMware Server, as well as on third-party virtualization products that support the OVF specification. In addition, virtual appliances built with VMware Studio carry an in-guest management framework that provides management capabilities for end users to perform administrative tasks such as configuring, updating and managing virtual appliances.
VMware Studio 1.0 Key Features
- Provides a web console, Command Line Interface and templates to easily create and manage virtual appliances.
- Allows appliance customization and provides capabilities to ensure a smooth vendor directed end-user experience.
- Enables the creation of patch repositories that can be hosted at the vendor site and used to push out updates to the appliances deployed at the end-user site to reduce admin time and costs.
- Leverages the best-in-class virtualization platform, namely, VMware Infrastructure, to allow appliances to be directly imported, deployed and updated using the VMware Infrastructure client.
