App on Demand: Making It Easy to Try Applications in the Cloud
VMware App on Demand is a new functionality within the VMware VMware Solution Exchange that allows enterprise and SMB users and members of the virtualization community to easily try applications in the cloud. App on Demand significantly simplifies the evaluation of an application for users, by allowing them to select an application and deploy the application in the cloud, without incurring hardware and set up costs. This is also a very cost effective and easy way for sales engineers to demo solutions or proofs of concept.
App on Demand virtual appliances can be accessed by registered users of the VSX via a simple login. With a single click, the trial version of the App on Demand virtual appliance is instantiated. VMware Ready partners offering App on Demand solutions will be able to view user contact information via the Lead Center in the self-service VSX Partner Portal.

Technical Requirements
The technical requirements for an App on Demand virtual appliance are:
- Single VM virtual appliance
- Memory restricted to 512MB RAM
- Size on disk restricted to 50GB
- No restriction on virtual HDD
- Minimum 512 Kbps Internet connectivity
It is up to our partners to determine the scope of features and functionality they want to showcase as App on Demand and whether a new build of the virtual appliance will need to be created. Parameters can be defined based on the type and nature of application - email security, network management, storage, etc.
