Build vApps and virtual appliances that are compatible with VMware infrastructure, VMware vSphere 4.0, vSphere 4.1 and VMware vCloud Director.
Use Studio's embedded in-guest management agent for standalone management through an enclosed web console.
Build both Linux-based (custom or standard Linux distributions) and Windows-based virtual appliances and vApps, running single- or multi-tier applications.
Validate appliances through the VMware Ready Virtual Appliance Program to ensure they’re in compliance with VMware best practices.
Studio packages software applications into Linux-based vitual machines and Windows-based virtual appliances and vApps. It includes three interfaces for creating virtual appliances: a command-line interface typically used for automation, a web-based user interface and an Eclipse plug-in.
Studio automatically inserts an in-guest management agent with a web console into the Windows-based virtual appliances and vApps it generates. It also provides pluggable management services for Linux-based appliances that can manage networking and system settings.
Studio increases the number of applications you can virtualize by building Linux-based virtual machines and Windows-based virtual appliances and vApps. You can author vApps on several operating system distributions, including Just enough Operating Systems (JeOS).
Studio gives you a simplified way to validate appliances through the VMware Ready Virtual Appliance Program. Studio addresses many criteria in the program's text matrix, which ensures all virtual appliances are in compliance with VMware's best practices for building virtual appliances.
