Customers Can Make the Move to the Horizon Enterprise Edition
VMware has announced the end of availability (“EOA”) of VMware Horizon™ Suite, effective on April 30th, 2014. No further orders for VMware Horizon Suite will be accepted after this date. Each product component of the Horizon Suite will continue to be supported per their individual lifecycle policies
All Horizon Suite customers will be entitled to the VMware Horizon™ Enterprise Edition in July. All of the features included in Horizon Suite are included in the Enterprise Edition with the exception of file collaboration. All of the features included in Horizon Suite are included in the Enterprise Edition with the exception of file collaboration. Customers who choose to upgrade to the Enterprise Edition will additionally have the ability to leverage hosted apps and session based desktops as well as Virtual SAN.

What did VMware announce regarding VMware Horizon Suite?
VMware announced the end of availability (“EOA”) of VMware Horizon Suite. This discontinuation is effective on April 30 th, 2014. No further orders for VMware Horizon Suite will be accepted after this date. Each product component of the Horizon Suite will continue to be supported per their individual lifecycle policies.
Can I purchase more Horizon Suite Client licenses after the EOA date?
You will not be able to purchase VMware Horizon Suite Licenses after April 30 th, 2014. You will however be able to purchase the Horizon Enterprise Edition, which has the same functionality except for file collaboration.
Can I still get VMware Horizon Suite support?
You may continue to obtain technical support and maintenance for the individual products that make up the Horizon Suite until the EOSL date of each product if you have a currently active VMware Support & Subscription service contract. You should continue to use the same support tools and methods for logging support cases.
Can I continue to use VMware Horizon Suite after “EOA”?
Yes. You may use Horizon Suite for as long as the product continues to run. There is no licensing restriction that would prevent you from running your VMware Horizon Suite deployment indefinitely.
Why is VMware Horizon Suite being discontinued?
VMware has decided to align the features found in the Horizon Suite with a new desktop portfolio which allows for easy upgrades and expansion. Most of the features in the Horizon Suite are included in the new Horizon Enterprise Edition the highest end package of the new Horizon Editions.
When did VMware make the decision to discontinue VMware Horizon Suite?
The decision to discontinue the VMware Horizon Suite SKU in favor of a new Horizon Enterprise SKU was made after much consideration and the acquisition of Airwatch.
Is there a migration or upgrade path from VMware Horizon Suite?
Yes. Horizon Suite customers will be automatically upgraded to the Horizon Enterprise Edition in July. All of the features found in the Horizon Suite are included in the new Horizon Enterprise Edition with the exception of data collaboration-which is not included. The Horizon Enterprise Edition also allows customers to leverage new features and functions including application virtualization, a plug in for VMware® vRealize™ Orchestrator™ and software defined datacenter optimization with virtual storage (VMware® Virtual SAN™).
Will there be future releases of VMware Horizon Suite?
At this time VMware does not plan to release any further updates. There will however be further updates to the newly introduced Horizon Enterprise Edition SKU.
