T-Systems and VMware seal strategic partnership

T-Systems becomes a certified provider for VMware vCloud Datacenter Services

The intensive, close partnership between T-Systems and VMware began in 2005, when T-Systems was the first ICT service provider to make concrete, cloud-based offers on a functional cloud architecture. At the time, VMware was T-Systems' technical partner, as the company already specialized in virtualization solutions back then. Today, VMware technology is not only a fixed component at the company’s own data centers but also in the complex IT solutions for T-Systems customers. To this end, virtualization experts systematically work together at the technological, strategic and commercial level. As an alliance partner, VMware has today been accorded the highest partner status by T-Systems. Vice versa, T-Systems is a Global System Integrator (GSI) of VMware.

For example, nowadays 80% of T-Systems' new SAP customers opt for a cloud version because they want to benefit from cost savings and more flexibility thanks to the dynamic operation of the SAP landscape. More than 1,000 systems run on the Dynamic Services platform, which includes some 15,000 cloud servers. Migrating their outdated systems to the cloud is a challenge for companies. In order for this to be a seamless process, T-Systems also involves VMware’s experts in the customer consultation. Together they can make solid recommendations as to what the customer can transfer to the cloud and how.
