VMware Launches VMware Community

New Technical Community Prepares VMware Users for Deployment Success and Provides Comprehensive Peer Support for VMware Products and Solutions

SAN DIEGO, October 27, 2004 — At VMworld 2004, VMware, Inc., the global leader in virtual infrastructure software for industry-standard systems, today announced the launch of its online technical user community, VMware Community. VMware Community is a single point of access for technical information for VMware users and enables them to interact with each other.

"The creation of VMware Community is a natural extension of our commitment to our 2.5 million users and aims to further enhance their technical knowledge of virtual infrastructure," said Yael Zheng, Vice President of Support at VMware. "We regularly receive a tremendous amount of positive feedback in discussion forums and user groups. With the creation of this new global forum for VMware users to share technical information and discuss topics with fellow VMware users, we hope to create an open environment where creative solutions and innovation are fostered."

VMware Community provides resources and services for members, including full product documentation, technical papers, articles, a self-service support portal, information about VMware User Groups and a monthly technical newsletter for end-users of VMware products.

"As a power user of the VMware discussion forums, I already find tremendous value sharing knowledge and discussing technology with my peers and VMware internal experts," said Scott Herold, senior network engineer at RapidApp and VMware discussion forum participant. "I am enthusiastic to see VMware expanding its online offerings to include more community interaction, better online technical resources and improved self-service support."

Selected VMworld 2004 Conference Proceedings will be available via VMware Community. Joining VMware Community is easy, through a one-click sign-up at www.vmware.com/vmtn.
