Today, July 17, 2012, VMware announced that Pat Gelsinger, currently president and chief operating officer of EMC Information Infrastructure Products, will succeed me as CEO of VMware, effective September 1, 2012. I will remain on the VMware Board of Directors and will be taking on a new technology strategist role at EMC.
Together with our ecosystem of partners and our customers, VMware has not only helped transform current IT practices but is leading the effort to bring Cloud Computing approaches and infrastructure to enterprises around the world – on-premise and off.
Pat and I would like to assure all our customers that VMware remains committed to this journey. We aim to continue to serve you to the best of our ability by listening and providing the best products and services that we can. Pat brings an ideal set of skills and experience to VMware, having served many years as a senior technologist and manager at Intel, and most recently at EMC. Between the two of us, in our respective roles, we have met many of you, and we hope to continue these relationships and build new ones as we go forward.
We look forward to seeing you at VMworld 2012 in San Francisco or Barcelona, where you will learn more about how VMware, together with our partners, enable your journey to the cloud. If you have questions, please read the press release.
We look forward to continued success together.
