Clalit Health Services
Clalit Health services virtualized their IT environment using VMware solutions
"I see VMware's SDDC revolution as an evolution for the infrastructure of the private cloud. today, all the subject of storage management, security and network is taking a lot of resources. If we are able to virtualize and automate these components, there is no doubt we could improve our savings and deliver a better service for our customers".

Clarion are also very passionate about new, exciting products and services in the evolving IT landscape. vSphere is the foundation of Clarions growing IT infrastructure and provides them with the tools they need to meet the dynamic requirements of the business. New services and systems can now be deployed within minutes, whereas typically this would have taken several months to complete. They also now have the capabilities of moving parts of the infrastructure easily into a private cloud which enables further resilience to the infrastructure moving forward. Next steps for the company are to use VMware Horizon Workspace to create a secure controlled environment for employees and clients to access, edit and send legal documents across the world and more importantly from any device. Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi
Enhancing patient experience through technology
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi went into construction in March 2010 and is scheduled for completion in 2015. The hospital’s management wanted to provide a best-in-class digital environment for all patients in order to give them the best experience possible and to ensure their stay is a comfortable as possible from every aspect.
The IT team naturally has to play a key part in this vision and, as a result, deployed vCloud Automation Center for improved managed and oversight of its infrastructure. Thanks to VMware, the time it takes to deliver applications to the hospital will be reduced from two weeks to 15 minutes – or by 70% - due to the automation capabilities of VMware’s solution.
“The key to our IT strategy when we began our journey here was starting with private cloud and growing to a hybrid cloud or a software-defined datacentre. I think that the real drivers for that were increased agility and achieving better time to market for our customers, whether that’s physicians who may need data for research, of the ability for us to rapidly upgrade and enhance products, enabling new services.”
Discover how The Cleveland Indians plan to transform IT operations by adopting mobility and hybrid cloud strategies.
"My vision for mobility is, I don’t want users to have to depend on a laptop. I want to give users who are carrying a brick and mortar laptop device today, an iPad, or a Droid or some sort of tablet to take out of the building with them"

VMware Automation and DevOps Solutions at Columbia Sportswear
Founded in 1937, Columbia Sportswear is a family-owned business with thousands of employees and operations spread around the globe. With the mission to design and deliver authentic, outdoor, high-value products for active consumers of all ages, the company makes high-quality sportswear that keeps customers comfortable and protected, wherever their excursions take them.
VMware has given Columbia Sportswear the wonderful capability to reduce silos and to blur the lines between application developers and operations. The biggest challenge it faces in the retail space today is the ability to operate at the speed of business and remain nimble and agile for growth.
“As we go forward, we are really looking for application developers to think more like operations and our operations to think more like application developers. vRealize Automation has given us that capability to have those groups as well as security and other interested parties sit side by side to collaborate and to figure out what capabilities need to be brought online. And as those capabilities have been created in templates and blueprints, they can be re-used and actually handed off to those teams to for self-provisioning and management.”
Columbia Sportswear Transforms Business Operations with Cloud Management Platform
Columbia Sportswear is an innovative leader in the apparel and footwear space, providing products for outdoor, active lifestyles in over 100 countries around the world, through E-Com, direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels. Founded in 1937, a lot of who Columbia is comes directly from its matron Gert Boyle, reminding employees to try new things, to do things just a little bit better than before, and to represent Columbia as the global brand that it knows it can be.
Columbia’s technology solutions are on the bleeding edge to stay ahead of where the business is going—not react to it. Its global business transformation leveraging VMware’s Cloud Management Platform is successfully influencing the way Columbia does business.
“All of what we've been doing around global business transformation is getting ready for us to grow. Whether it's organic growth, adding a brand, or reaching out into new consumer markets, all are pushing what we do with technology, how we reach people, how we connect with them and how we respond to their needs.”
“We feel that the software defined data center and the next steps are going to be critical to long-term success, and cause improvements in our business on a constant basis and yet challenge our people to feel good about what they're delivering every day.”
Columbia Sportswear Embarks on Disaster Recovery and SAP Virtualization Journey: Columbia reduced costs right away by running and supporting less physical hardware. With fewer machines to power, run and cool, energy and operational costs declined, leading to hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings.
“It’s the inherent ability for us to scale resources rapidly, on-demand, that VMware provides us. We don’t have that any other way.”
Columbia Sportswear's software-defined data center is built on VMware technology:
Columbia Sportswear is enabling the business by letting the business decide what performance criteria they need, where they need their data hosted, and then to rapidly configure and deploy those resources using VMware vCloud Suite and the software-defined data center architecture. From an IT perspective, Columbia can determine the right fit for its business, and is empowered to make resource decisions based on what the business is asking—without having to go back to its business teams and explain architecture limitations. Columbia’s application resources are available as needed, anywhere in the world.
Starting in 2009, Columbia embarked on a company-wide initiative with VMware to virtualize its entire Tier 1 business critical SAP production environment. The objective was to create highly available, fault-tolerant, and disaster-proof business systems that could support faster time to market and reduce operating costs. The result is one of the most leading-edge IT infrastructures in the world. It provides Columbia Sportswear with a competitive advantage in a global market and aligns with the company’s aim of speed and innovation.
“It allows Columbia to compete in ways that none of our peers can. Our scalability enable us to respond to business demands at an industry-leading speed, and I don’t ever have to say no.”
To meet growing global demand for its outdoor apparel and accessories, Columbia Sportswear required an infrastructure-as-a-service platform that would support its Microsoft-based business application portfolio. To improve IT and business productivity, Columbia wanted a service that would perform like a virtual extension of its on-premises data center and operate using its current management tools. Columbia chose VMware vCloud® Air™, realizing immediate cost savings and gaining a robust modern platform to support new application development.
“With vCloud Air, my team can be more efficient, users get an absolutely consistent experience, and we’re able to provide the same level of support we always have.”
