Create Differentiated Solutions on VMware Platforms

TAP members get access to a comprehensive set of developer resources to develop rich and robust applications on VMware platform, create differentiated solutions and reduce time-to-market. These resources include,

  • Products such as toolkits and APIs
  • Content such as documentation and knowledge base
  • Source code access and
  • Services such as developer forums, incident support, architectural help and certification

These resources are packaged in the form of programs listed below. Together they are called Co-Development Programs. We continue to improve the breadth and depth of resources, so let us know your suggestions.

I/O Vendor Program

The I/O Vendor Program (IOVP) is a part of the VMware Ready Program. It is open to qualified partners interested building and certifying devices and drivers for ESX, a part of VMware Infrastructure (VI). IOVP partners have access to the ESX Device Driver Kit (DDK) including a build environment (sample drivers, build tools, and code scanner), a debugging toolset, documentation (reference/man pages, Porting Guide, and User Guide), and certification test suites. Through the IOVP Program, partners can certify device drivers developed using the DDK.

The program allows partners to create in a timely fashion, new drivers or update existing ones based on availability of new devices and new versions of VMware products. The drivers created and certified via this program can be released asynchronously by VMware and partners. Associated devices are added to VMware’s Compatibility Guide
