Yes, as long as the individual is still a member in good standing with the institution.
We frequently host the most up to date versions of the VMAP software. This may mean that there will be a new file to download by the time you wish to renew your software.
Students may download their 1-year evaluation licenses directly from the ELMS (e-academy License Management System) Fusion WebStore. Please refer to the question below about how to add users to your WebStore.
VMAP products are limited to one copy per product; however, discounted licenses may be obtained at our Academic Store.
Certain exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Program Administrator.
Volume licenses for lab environments are provided at no additional cost to Program Members.
If you have a question about the use of your ELMS WebStore and have not found the answer in the FAQs provided, please contact elmsfusion@kivuto.com.
VCMS will not work with the free VI3 licenses, because we currently deliver one license per product per department. Each ESX server included with VI3 will have the same license number as the rest, and VCMS will not be able to distinguish between them.
The program is currently limited to the departmental level. Interested departments may apply via the online form.
No. Member Institutions and affiliated organizations can gain access to VMware software licenses at a discounted price for use within their institutional IT and administrative infrastructure. Use of VMware software for instruction and research is governed by specific program guidelines and the conditions described within the VMware Academic Program EULA (End-User License Agreement). The VMware Commercial EULA governs the use of software for infrastructure purposes.
We highly recommend you take advantage of the hands free user management approach by using the IUV authentication method (Integrated User verification) using your school’s LDAP server. If it is not possible to hook up with your school’s active directory (LDAP), then you may import users by using email addresses.
You may refer to the information in the Administration Guide for further information on administering your site.
For troubleshooting your WebStore please contact your e-academy representative or send a detailed email to:
- General requests: elms-fusion@kivuto.com
- IUV requests: IUV_support@kivuto.com
The evaluation licenses do not come with software support from VMware; however, there is a rich knowledgebase and online community available for you.
You are always welcome to contact your e-academy account representative for any support regarding your WebStore at elmsfusion@kivuto.com.
We review the product offering on a regular basis and make changes as needed. Just recently we added VMware Fusion to the list of products given its growing use within academic institutions.
In addition to our discounted and VMAP license benefits, we offer our Source Access program to select researchers in academia. Once a research proposal has been approved, the program provides access to our ESX and Workstation source code as well as the support of an R&D technical liaison.
