vFabric Postgres is free for non-production use, and is licensed per VM (up to 2 vCPUs) for production use. Pricing is as below:

|vFabric Postgres Standard Edition (Production use) Includes a license for 1 managed virtual machine with up to 2 vCPUs. If your vFabric Postgres database will have more than two vCPUs, divide by two and round up. Support and subscription sold separately.|
|vFabric Suite Advanced (Production use) Includes a suite of vFabric products including vFabric Postgres. The vFabric Suite license is for 1 managed virtual machine with up to 2 vCPUs. VMware vFabric Postgres Requirements
For production, VMware vFabric Postgres requires VMware vSphere 5.0, and one instance of vCenter Server 5.0 Foundation or Standard. Learn more about VMware vCenter Server licensing and VMware vSphere licensing.
For dev/test, vFabric Postgres can be used with vSphere, as well as VMware Workstation 8, VMware Player 4 and VMware Fusion.
