VMware vCenter Support Assistant is a free, downloadable plug-in for vCenter Server. It also includes a VMware Knowledge Base search capability, which enables customers to resolve common issues more rapidly.
vCenter Support Assistant helps gather more of the information up front that VMware Technical Support finds useful. By minimizing further data requests from VMware Technical Support, vCenter Support Assistant can help reduce time to resolution and, in turn, minimize system downtime.
Customers can use vCenter Support Assistant to open Support Requests for any VMware product with a support entitlement. Logs can only be generated from VMware vSphere® hosts and vCenter Servers.
vCenter Support Assistant allows you to perform the following operations:
- Create new Support Requests.
- View / modify existing Support Requests.
- Generate and upload log bundle data, either as part of a new Support Request or added to an existing Support Request.
Upload other attachments that could aid technical support engineers, such as screenshots.
