Q. Why is VMware offering this Promotion Bundle?
A. The promotion is intended to help customers on their journey in migrating their desktops to Windows 7. With ThinApp, customers can start their migration by building in application compatibility using ThinApp agentless application virtualization technology. This helps to speed up the process of migration by saving time on application recoding, regression testing and in many cases costly recertification. The promotion helps to ease the migration experience and streamline the process of desktop migration.

Q. How does this promotion fit with the ThinApp products currently available for sale?
A. ThinApp is a key component of desktop virtualization and a part of the VMware View portfolio. With the Windows 7 migration, application virtualization is a critical component of desktop migration and desktop virtualization. The promotion introduces the first easy step to migration. Followed on with View to virtualize desktop allows customers to simplify the process of desktop management. Combined, ThinApp + View customers can centrally manage images of applications and desktops instead of managing individual end point PCs.

Q. What benefits can a customer expect to receive with version 4.5?
A. Along with award winning features such as agentless architecture and application isolation, ThinApp 4.5 delivers Windows 7 migration support. This will enable customers to quickly package existing Windows XP or older Windows application for deployment on Windows 7. This can help to extend the life of existing applications at the same time deliver significant savings on application porting and regression testing costs.

Q. Which partner types are eligible for this ThinApp Promotion?
A. Orders fulfilled from Solution Provider Premier, Solution Provider Enterprise, Corp Reseller, Global System Integrators, Technology Partner Premier, Technology Provider Enterprise, Solution Provider Professional, Technology Provider Professional, Solution Provider Registered, Technology Provider Registered are eligible for this promotion. This promotion is not available for OEM partners ordering directly from VMware.

Q. The ThinApp Promotion mention’s a maximum of 5 qualifying orders per customer. Can you define customer in this case?
A. For the purposes of this ThinApp Promotion, customer must have a unique customer name. For example, if there were 6 orders from a customer with the same name (regardless of the address), only 5 of the 6 orders will receive the ThinApp New Year Promotion Bundle.

Q. When will the customer receive license Keys?
A. The customer will receive their license keys after ThinApp 4.5 becomes generally available. ThinApp New Year Promotion Bundle will be fulfilled via your licensing portal after the public availability of ThinApp 4.5.

Q. When is the last day to redeem the ThinApp 4.5 promo?
A. The last day you can redeem your ThinApp 4.5 New Year’s promo code is on May 30th, 2010.

Q. Can my customer get temporary keys for this ThinApp New Year Promotion Bundle today?
A. The ThinApp New Year Promotion Bundle is specifically for ThinApp version 4.5. It will be fulfilled when ThinApp 4.5 is publicly available.

Q. What will current ThinApp customers receive when version 4.5 becomes generally available?
A. ThinApp customers, who have an active subscription contract, will be fulfilled version 4.5.

Q. My customer ordered 10 vSphere Enterprise Plus Licenses on their PO. How many Promotion Bundles will they receive?
A. This customer will receive One ThinApp New Year Promotion Bundle fulfilled per order, not to exceed five (5) per customer during the promotional period.

Q. When will the SnS start on this ThinApp New Year Promotion Bundle? What happens after 1 year?
A. SnS will begin on the day VMware fulfills the ThinApp New Year Promotion Bundle and will end one year from that date. Customer may renew their SnS after the first year at then current list prices.

Q. The ThinApp New Year Promotion Bundle is limited to orders that have vSphere, vCenter, View or ThinApp product families (license only). Is there a detailed SKU list?
