Simplify Operations Across Clouds

Many customers who rely on VMware to run applications in their vSphere-based private clouds also want to run these applications in the public cloud on AWS, and they want to do this in a way that leverages their existing tools and skillsets.

VMware Cloud on AWS will integrate the world’s leading private cloud and the world’s leading public cloud so that customers can run VMware’s market-leading compute, storage, and network virtualization solutions directly on AWS without giving up any of the functionality, elasticity, and security they have come to expect from the AWS Cloud. They will be able to do all this in a common operating environment based on familiar VMware software while also leveraging AWS services.

The Power of Partnership for AWS and VMware Customers

VMware and Amazon Web Services are working together to build a seamlessly integrated hybrid offering that will deliver the full VMware experience on the world’s most popular and trusted public cloud. This jointly architected solution represents a significant investment in engineering, operations, support and sales resources from both companies. Designed to deliver a great customer experience, the service will be optimized for next-generation elastic, bare metal AWS infrastructure. It will deliver the power of VMware’s SDDC infrastructure software while providing access to advanced AWS services, backed by an integrated customer support experience.

A Key Component of the VMware Cross-Cloud Architecture

The new service will be an important part of  the new VMware Cross-Cloud Architecture, the world’s most complete and capable hybrid cloud architecture, which VMware announced at VMworld in August 2016. The core tenet of VMware’s Cross-Cloud Architecture is to make it easier for customers to run, manage, and secure their applications across on-premises environments and the public cloud.
