Overview

Deploying BEA WebLogic applications on VMware Infrastructure will drive tangible benefits through the complete software lifecycle from development to high availability. By expediting and simplifying the application development and testing processes customers will experience faster time to production while maintaining high quality throughout these processes.

Together, BEA and VMware reduce the cost and deployment time while providing increased operational efficiencies and accelerated time to market driving lower TCO and increased ROI for their customers deploying BEA WebLogic applications on VMware Infrastructure

BEA WebLogic Server Virtual Edition Launcher Appliance

The WLS-VE launcher virtual appliance simplifies the process of installing, configuring, and evaluating WebLogic Server, Virtual Edition.

The WLS-VE launcher appliance is both an NFS server and a launcher machine that is preconfigured to start a sample WLS-VE domain on an ESX Server. It also contains a copy of the WLS-VE ISO image file, which is the boot image that ESX uses to start instances of the WLS-VE virtual machine.

SOA and Virtualization: How Do They Fit Together?
This paper lays out the basics for how these two developments in the industry, and the technologies underlying them, can complement each other, if implemented correctly.

VMware®Lab Manager Deployment Guide for BEA Software
This deployment guide is intended to be used by people who are configuring or using the VMware® Lab Manager solution to help develop, test and deploy applications and systems that make use of BEA software products. This guide does not replace the Lab Manager product documentation, such as the VMware Lab Manager Installation Guide or the Lab Manager User Guide. Instead it is intended to complement those documents with more guidelines for use of the Lab Manager product in a BEA environment. Both the Lab Manager Installation Guide and User Guide should be read by the appropriate members of the Lab Manager installation and user teams. This document provides a workflow for working with a set of BEA products, in particular BEA WebLogic Server, in the Lab Manager environment.

SOA and Virtualization: How Do They Fit Together?
Industry discussion on Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and virtualization positions them as separate, though related, topics today. Because of the wealth of public discussion on each technology, IT managers may wonder whether they are in any sense connected to each other. In fact, the technologies that come with virtualization can be seen as the key enablers for the flexibility promised by SOA. This paper establishes the technical links between these two popular developments in enterprise computing.

Streamlining BEA WebLogic Server Application Development With VMware® Infrastructure 3
This white paper describes different ways that customers can use VMware Infrastructure to increase productivity and efficiency of their BEA WebLogic Server environments.

VMware Infrastructure for BEAWebLogic Applications Use Cases whitepaper
This document discusses the benefits of five use cases for running BEA WebLogic™ applications on VMware Infrastructure. These use cases range from server containment to disaster recovery demonstrating tangible cost reduction, operational efficiency and time saving benefits.

VMware and BEA WebLogic Solutions Deployment Guide
This guide was developed to help customers who are in the early stages of adopting VMware Infrastructure solutions, or BEA WebLogic customers who are considering deploying VMware Infrastructure solutions, or VMware customers who are considering implementing new BEA WebLogic application environments.

VMware® Infrastructure for BEA Tuxedo™ Applications – Use Cases
This document discusses the benefits of various use cases for running BEA Tuxedo™ applications on VMware® Infrastructure.

Virtualization: Same Servers, More Capacity: Intel, VMware, and BEA Partner to Virtualize Java-Based Systems
This brief  describes how a combined BEA, Intel, and VMware approach builds on proven industry-leading technologies to reduce the hardware required to support a given number of applications, cut OS license and administrative costs, and decrease data center complexity.

Joint Partner Success Stories

“BEA WebLogic Server Virtual Edition is extremely easy and intuitive to use. There was almost no learning curve for me. It is very similar to the ‘traditional’ WebLogic Server. BEA WebLogic Server Virtual Edition’s ease of use, combined with the fact that there are very few manual steps, makes it nearly error-proof.”
