IBM Software Sub-capacity Pricing for VMware Virtual Environments
IBM Software Group announced the expansion of its sub-capacity offering on April 25, 2006, by extending sub-capacity licensing to x86 servers (to the chip level only on multi-core chips) that use VMware ESX, VMware GSX Server, or Microsoft Virtual Server to create virtual partitions.
Sub-capacity licensing lets you license an eligible software program for use on less than the full processor core capacity of your machine, when the software program is used within one or more partitions using a supported partitioning technology.
