List & Validate a
Virtual Appliance

Step 1:

Review the VMware Ready Testing Matrix and Virtual Appliance Guidelines   to ensure your virtual appliance is in compliance. VMware’s Validation Lab will provide you with a completed score card outlining the results of the validation test when it is complete.

Step 2:

Next, please review and ensure compliance with the following validation requirements. Compliance with these guidelines is required to obtain and maintain validation under the VMware Ready Virtual Appliance Program.

• Best Practices: All validated virtual appliances must comply with the VMware Ready Virtual Appliance Test Matrix to ensure adherence with VMware’s Best Practices for building virtual appliances. Guidelines: All VMware Ready Virtual Appliances must comply with VMware's Guidelines for Virtual Appliances. .
• Support Requirements: Software Developers must agree to comply with Virtual Appliance Support Requirements.
• Marketing and Promotion Guidelines: Software Developers must agree to comply with VMware’s Marketing and Promotion Guidelines.
• VMware Certified Professional: Within 90 days of an Software Developers first appliance becoming validated, Software Developers must have and maintain a minimum of one VMware Certified Professional on staff. Learn how to become a VMware Certified Professional.
• VMware Ready Virtual Appliance Program Agreement: Please select the appropriate agreement based on where your company is headquartered: US, European Union, Other International.
• Technology Alliance Program (TAP): To become a member of the VMware Ready Virtual Appliance Program, Software Developers must also join VMware’s Technology Alliance Program. Joining as an Access member is easy and free.

Step 3:

Submit a request to be listed and validated by following these instructions:

• Register as a VAM partner.
• Complete and submit the virtual appliance listing request through the ‘create a new listing’ option in the VAM partner portal.
• Complete and submit an application for the VMware Ready program through the ‘Apply Now’ option in the VAM partner portal.
• Purchase VMware Ready testing so that VMware can begin the validation process.

If necessary, VMware will contact the partner via email during the validation process. In the meanwhile, partners can check their VMware Ready program status on the VAM partner portal.

VMware will send an email notification when the listing is approved as VMware Ready

The VAM partner portal will reflect the ‘Approved’ status and the virtual appliance will be listed in the VMware Ready category along with the VMware Ready logo. It will also be listed in two solution categories.
