New Usage Models

  • Innovative VMware services such as VMware® VMotion, VMware® High Availability and VMware® Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS ) aggregate resources across discrete physical servers to provide dynamic load balancing, continuous availability and mobility for all workloads.
  • Dynamic utilization of datacenter resource pools to ensure application service levels are met.  Combine your existing Intel Core Microarchitecture servers in virtualization pools providing flexibility to respond to shifting enterprise demands.
  • Dynamic load balancing: Intelligent process scheduling and load balancing across available processors to manage the execution of virtual machine processing increasing server utilization.  Advanced VMware infrastructure capabilities like VMotion, DRS and VMware HA are fully supported with NAS and iSCSI environments.
  • Live virtual machine migration for multiple generations of Intel Core Microarchitecture: Migrate running virtual machines from one physical server to another with VMware VMotion while maintaining continuous service availability and transaction integrity.

Networking Virtualization

  • VMware’s network multi-queue technology (Netqueue) supports Intel VMDq to improve I/O throughput for faster, more efficient networking.   Netqueue and VMDq combine to efficiently share NICs, increase switching performance with HW acceleration, enable multiple virtual machines to be assigned to each port, and allows customer to apply more apps by reducing CPU utilization.  Learn more from our joint white paper.
  • Expanded port configuration policies to simplify port configuration by utilizing a single configuration object across large groups of ports.
