Create Differentiated Solutions on VMware Platforms

TAP members get access to a comprehensive set of developer resources to develop rich and robust applications on VMware platform, create differentiated solutions and reduce time-to-market. These resources include,

  • Products such as toolkits and APIs
  • Content such as documentation and knowledge base
  • Source code access and
  • Services such as developer forums, incident support, architectural help and certification

These resources are packaged in the form of programs listed below. Together they are called Co-Development Programs. We continue to improve the breadth and depth of resources, so let us know your suggestions.

Software Development Kit (SDK)

VMware provides SDKs (Software Development Kit) consisting of published APIs that can be used by partners to integrate their products with VMware Infrastructure (VI). Such integrations allow partners to configure and monitor a variety of parameters in a virtual environment including VM inventory, VM life cycle, host/network/storage configurations, performance monitoring and alert management. The SDKs are organized in four categories: Management, Virtual Disk, Virtual Machine Automation and Guest.

Partners can download SDKs as well as access knowledge base and developer forum by visiting VMware Developer Center. Based on their level, some partners get a limited number of FREE email based support incidents. These incidents can be used to obtain expert development support when integrating with VMware platform using SDK. Partners at higher levels can also engage in architecture discussions with R&D to integrate their products with VMware. See Benefits box for details. Supported SDK products include VMware Infrastructure API, VI Toolkit for Windows, VI Perl Toolkit, Virtual Disk Development Kit and Guest SDK.

Visit our 'how to' page for more information on how to file a support request.
