Embedded OEM Program

The Embedded OEM program enables TAP Program members (ISV/IHVs) to embed VMware products such as VMware vSphere, the industry’s most reliable virtualization platform, VMware vCenter Server, the most advanced virtualization management platform, VMware Workstation and others tightly into their solutions and sell the combined solution and support to end users worldwide. This approach enables OEMs to enhance the end-user experience by providing a pre-configured virtualized solution and end-user support right out of the box while reducing the complexity of deployments.

Under the Embedded OEM program, program members obtain specific VMware products from one of the authorized Embedded OEM distributors at a special OEM price. The OEMs, in turn, embed these products in their solutions and provide royalties on a quarterly basis to the authorized Embedded OEM distributor. Royalties are based on the number of VMware licenses and SnS (Support and Subscription) contracts sold.

This is a world-wide program available to any qualified non-server TAP Program member, whether they are an ISV (infrastructure or application), IHV, Storage or Networking vendor. The OEM solution is appropriate for several scenarios, including,

• ISV Bundle – ISVs bundling their software with VMware products, and third-party hardware to deliver a virtualized solution
• Embedded Solution – Infrastructure providers (e.g. Telco or networking gear) looking to embed VMware as a part of a larger HW+SW solution
• Virtual Hardware for a Virtual Appliance – Partners currently delivering their solution as a hardware appliance and looking for an alternative approach

A separate application and qualification process is required to join the program.
