How to Get the VMware Ready Logo

The following steps are required to obtain and start using the VMware Ready logo on your application software.  Notice that each step offers value by itself so don’t delay and get started right away.

Please note that this logo qualification process is not applicable to software that integrates with VMware using an API such as SNMP, VMware’s VIM API, vStorage API, etc. or performs administration of physical or virtual environments. Products that are intended to be viewed/ operated / managed as hardware or perform infrastructure functions (which include, but are not limited to monitoring/management, security, data de-duplication, compression, encryption, etc.) are not eligible to use this qualification process. Please consult tapalliance@vmware.comif you have any questions about eligibility.

Join the Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) Program

In order to apply for the VMware Ready Logo, an application ISV must first join the Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) Program at the Access level or above. Designed for commercial software, hardware and storage vendors, the TAP program gives members the VMware resources and expertise you need to deliver enhanced value to shared customers.

Already a TAP Partner?

If you already have a TAP account, login to Partner Central and follow these steps (in no particular order):

Agree to support your applications when running on virtual machines (VMs)

Over 130,000 customers run thousands of applications on the VMware platform (in development, testing, production and disaster recovery environments) whether ISVs have formal support statements or not. Our platform is designed so that applications that run on a supported guest operating system perform exactly as they do on a physical system.

In general, customers prefer that all ISVs provide an official support statement. Providing a support statement is easy and assures customers that they can make full use of your application(s) on the VMware platform without reservation.  To provide a support statement, visit the VMware Ready section in Partner Central and follow the instructions for the Application Software program.

Submit descriptions of your products for the Partner Product Catalog

Since the launch of vSphere in April 2009, the VMware website has been averaging more than 1 million visitors a week.  Give these visitors the opportunity to read about your products and how well they run in a virtual machine.  The VMware Partner Product Catalog allows our partners to submit detailed information on your company, your unique value proposition with VMware, and detailed product information. In addition, you can add any number of links to additional resources your company may have created in support of the product(s), like data sheets, white papers, on-line demos, virtual appliances, presentations, etc.

To submit descriptions of your products for the VMware Partner Product Catalog, visit the VMware Ready section in Partner Central and follow the instructions for the Application Software program.

Test your applications

To be awarded the VMware Ready logo for your product requires a modest amount of engineering work, assuming that the pre-requisites are in place.  For ISVs who do not have all the pre-requisites in advance, some additional preparation work will be required.

For full instructions and prerequisites, please read Directions for VMware Ready Testing for Application Software.

To submit a log file with diagnostic information, visit the VMware Ready section in Partner Central and follow the instructions for the Application Software program.
