VMware Ready Platform and Compute

The virtualization of platform and compute resources enables customers to significantly reduce the time it takes to provision custom, multi-tier network topologies and enterprise-class services (from weeks to seconds), cut operating and capital expenditures and increase deployment flexibility.

VMware offers testing and validation for platform and compute products in the following categories:

  • Server Certification
  • Servers: Solution Providers
  • I/O Vendor Program
  • Virtual Shared Graphics Acceleration (vSGA)

Server Certification

The Server Certification program provides tools and development resources designed to enable TAP partners to get their hardware devices tested against ESXi and obtain official certification and support.

Requirements

To be eligible to use the VMware® Ready™ logo in association with server products, partners must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program at the Elite level. Visit the TAP main page for information on the program, how to enroll and how to upgrade your enrollment.
  • Maintain TSANet membership and an entry in the VMware custom TSANet Portal.
  • Maintain one VMware Certified Professional (VCP) for technical support, as well as one VMware Salesperson Professional (VSP) and one VMware Technical Salesperson Professional (VTSP) within each region where the qualified product is sold.
  • Publish the product description on the VMware Solution Exchange (VSX).

Get Started

To get started and express interest in enrolling in the VMware Ready Program, complete the online Partner Onboarding Form. Select “Server Certification Program” in the Program Name field.

Visit the VMware Developer Center for additional program resources, including SDKs, APIs and other certification tools.

Servers: Solution Providers

This category is for VMware partners utilizing the VMware Ready/Server Certification Equivalency Tool (SCET) to qualify for the VMware Ready logo. Use of the VMware Ready logo in association with server products is designed to highlight Authorized Solution Provider partners’ specific product models that have met VMware criteria defined by the System Certification Equivalency Tool (SCET). Qualifying products are posted in the VMware Hardware Compatibility Guide as an OEM/Server product and the partner must publish on the VMware Solution Exchange.

Requirements

To be eligible to use the VMware Ready for Platform and Compute logo in association with server products, solution providers must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an existing authorized solution provider.
  • Provide technical support contact information through the CSEP (Corporate Support Engagement Policy). Contact tapalliance@vmware.com for more information on CSEP.
  • Maintain at least one VMware Sales Professional (VSP) and one VMware Technical Sales Professional (VTSP) for support and sales.
  • Publish the product description on the VMware Solution Exchange (VSX).
  • Submit the brand name server platform via the Server Certification Equivalency Tool (SCET). This tool can be downloaded from the VMware Developer Center.

I/O Vendor Program

The I/O Vendor Program (IOVP) is the preferred vehicle for new hardware enablement for strategic OEM server vendors seeking to avoid long release cycles and provides an effective way to update outdated in-box drivers. The IOVP program is open to qualified partners interested in building and certifying devices and drivers for ESX, and is primarily targeted at IHVs (independent hardware vendors). However, non-IHVs may also find it useful.

The IOVP program offers members a comprehensive set of tools, resources and processes needed to develop, certify and release software modules, including device drivers and utility libraries for VMware ESXi. Device drivers can be released asynchronously, so can be submitted for certification at any time.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program at the Elite level.
  • Sign the VMware program agreement.
  • Adhere to product support requirements as documented in the program guide.
  • Obtain TSANet membership and an entry in the VMware custom TSANet Portal.
  • Maintain good standing as a member of the VMware IOVP program in order to satisfy engineering requirements.
  • Complete the IOVP certification process so the I/O product is listed on the VMware Compatibility Guide for VMware vSphere and VMware ESXi as a certified product.
  • Obtain VMware Device Certification for I/O products as defined under the IOVP Program Guide.
  • Provide post-s as defined in the IOVP Program Guide for the I/O product(s) identified with the VMware Ready logo.
  • Publish the product description on the VMware Solution Exchange (VSX).

Virtual Shared Graphics Acceleration (vSGA)

The VMware vSGA Program offers partners a comprehensive set of tools, resources and processes needed to develop, certify and release GPU device drivers (SW modules) for VMware ESXiHost. This Program is designed for graphics IHVs. Partner attainment of the VMware Ready for Platform and Compute logo assures customers that the GPU device drivers work with VMware ESXi.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program at the Elite level.
  • Sign the VMware program agreement.
  • Adhere to product support requirements as documented in the program guide.
  • Maintain TSANet membership and an entry in the VMware custom TSANet Portal.
  • Participate in business and technical due diligence with VMware as part of the membership application evaluation. Due diligence is required for new products and partners should obtain explicit agreements for each new product certification.
  • Complete the Device Certification Process as defined in the VMware Ready for vSGA Program Guide to get your devices certified as applicable, depending on the category the device falls under.
  • Publish the product description on the VMware Solution Exchange (VSX).
