Reduce Implementation Effort and Complexity
vFabric Hyperic helps operations teams to place large heterogeneous IT environments, ranging from hundreds to thousands of machines, under management with little manual effort. Automatically discovering over 75 different technologies and 50,000 different metrics within minutes of installation, Hyperic can place your entire application stack under management in just minutes. Virtualization-aware, Hyperic can inventory and track resources across both physical and virtual infrastructure, accounting for typical virtualization actions such as powering up, powering down or vMotioning a resource

Automatic and Change-Aware
Hyperic automatically builds an inventory of system, infrastructure and software components within the managed environment. When changes occur—such as modifications to software versions or network identifiers—Hyperic logs them and can take action based on defined rules. For example, you can set up Hyperic to notify the operations team whenever a developer updates the app server version.
VM-Savvy
Once you start a new ESX or virtual machine instance, Hyperic automatically adds it to inventory, configures monitoring parameters and begins collecting performance metrics and events. This level of automation lets you deploy fully monitored VMs with minimal incremental effort, helping you quickly scale out monitoring across your virtual infrastructure.
Cross-Platform
Hyperic’s auto-discovery works across most platforms and is powered by Hyperic's System Information Gatherer (SIGAR), a cross-platform API for collecting software inventory data across all major platforms including Unix, Linux, Windows, Mac OSX, Solaris, HP-UX, and AIX—and in disparate run-time environments, from Java to .NET.
Extensible
Out-of-the-box, Hyperic auto-discovers over 75 common operating systems, application servers, HTTP servers, databases, and other software and network resources. Plus, you can tap into our vibrant monitoring community for additional plug-ins. For anything else, you can use SIGAR and the Hyperic Plug-in Development Kit (PDK) to extend discovery and management.
SIGAR offers both source code and binary distributions, including native libraries for all supported platforms, examples and documentation. Users of the SIGAR API receive portable access to inventory and monitoring data such as:
- System memory, swap, CPU, load average, uptime, logins
- Per-process memory, CPU, credential info, state, arguments, environment, open files
- File system detection and metrics
- Network interface detection, configuration information, and metrics
- Network route and connection tables
